I Love You

I love you.
I don't want
a thing from you.

Jiddu Krishnamurti

Something Far Greater

There is something far greater than we are,
and we are an authentic part of it and
can contribute to its evolution.

Be the Buddha

Don't quote the Buddha,
be the Buddha.

Eckhart Tolle

Into What Society?

The first universal, existential reality
is that of the mystery of birth.
That's more than a biological phenomenon,
believe me - the mystery of a new being coming in.
And the next - every culture, everywhere, forever,
has had to bring that little natural phenomenon
into relationship with a society.
That's where the problem comes:
into what society are you going to bring
this natural phenomenon?

Joseph Campbell

That's Life

Imagine reading a book with
no way to turn back the page.
How carefully would you read it?
That's life.

Allow the Universe to Lead You

The best way to succeed is to discover what
you love and then find a way to offer it to others
in the form of service, working hard, and also
allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.

Oprah Winfrey

Nothing to Hold On To

If you realize that all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.

Lao Tzu

Understand More

Nothing in life is to be feared;
it is only to be understood.
Now is the time to understand more,
so that we may fear less.

Marie Curie

Love This World

Look, I want to love this world as though
it's the last chance I'm every going to get
to be alive and know it.

The First Basic Reason for Meditation

Now, obviously, is I talk all the time,
I don't hear what anyone else has to say.
And so, in exactly the same way, if I think
all the time - that is to say, if I talk to myself
all the time - I don't have anything to think
about except thoughts. And therefore,
I'm living entirely in the world of symbols,
and am never in relationship with reality.
That's the first basic reason for meditation.

Alan Watts

They Already Know

Your time is limited, so don't waste it
living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma - which is
living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of other people's opinions
drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage
to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what
you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.

Steve Jobs

Forever Conquering

The first result of this illusion (of being isolated "egos") is
that our attitude to the world "outside" us is largely hostile.
We are forever "conquering" nature, space, mountains,
deserts, bacteria, insects instead of learning to cooperate
with them in a harmonious order. In America
the great symbols of this conquest are the bulldozer
and the rocket.

Alan Watts

There is a Place Beyond Ambition

When the flute players
couldn't think of what to say next
they laid down their pipes,
then they lay down themselves
beside the river
and just listened.
Some of them, after a while,
jumped up
and disappeared back into the busy town.
But the rest -
so quiet, not even thoughtful -
are still there,
still listening.

The World Becomes a Prayer

When the heart wakes,
the world becomes a prayer.

Shams of Tabriz

Be Just Another Human Soul

Know all the theories,
master all the techniques,
but as you touch a human soul,
be just another human soul.

Carl Jung

Be Yourself

If you find yourself feeling like an outsider,
like you don't fit in with the crowd, it means
that you have the potential to make
a real difference in the world.
Don't be afraid to be yourself,
to follow your own path.
The world needs your unique perspective.

Timothy Leary

Listen to the Ocean

Silence is an ocean.
Speech is a river.
When the ocean is searching
for you, don't walk into the river.
Listen to the ocean.

Rumi

A Game of Hide and Seek

Since before time, I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through
which we pass, sacred thresholds on our journey.
Birth and death are a game of hide and seek.

Thich Nhat Hanh

Say Thank You

If the only prayer you say in your life
is thank you, that would suffice.

Meister Eckhart

Our True Being

Technology is not going to save us.
Our computers, our tools,
our machines are not enough.
We have to rely on our intuition,
our true being.

Joseph Campbell

Simple Universe

We will first understand
how simple the universe is
when we recognize
how strange it is.

John Archibald Wheeler

Find the Strangest Thing

In any field,
find the strangest thing
and then explore it.

John Archibald Wheeler

Find Something Strange

If you haven't found something strange
during the day, it hasn't been much of a day.

John Archibald Wheeler

A Participatory Universe

We are not only observers.
We are participators.
In some strange sense,
this is a participatory
universe.

Evoke Your Higher Nature

Our life evokes our character.
You find out more about yourself
as you go on. That's why it's good
to put yourself in situations that
will evoke your higher nature
rather than your lower.

Joseph Campbell

The Door That Has Been Opened

When one door of happiness closes,
another opens, but often we look so long
at the closed door that we do not see
the one that has been opened for us.

Helen Keller

Kindness Like Rain

Let your kindness be like rain, that
cares not about who it falls upon.

Rumi

Meaning and Purpose

The meaning of life
is to find your gift.
The purpose of life
is to give it away.

Sit Down and Keep Still

Four-fifths of all our troubles
would disappear, if we would only
sit down and keep still.

Calvin Coolidge

Life is ...

Life is one darn thing
after another.

Not Misquoted

Silence can never
be misquoted.
